All students are required to attend all their classes during the first week of each semester. Any students who do not attend during the first week and who do not report their absence to their instructor will be removed from the course.

Accessible Learning Services
Accessible Learning (AL) is responsible for providing academic accommodation planning to students with disabilities to ensure barrier-free access to education. Accommodation planning and services are tailored to correspond with the disability-related needs of each student and are determined based on the documentation provided and program specific requirements.
We aim to create a learning environment that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of students. We work collaboratively with students to identify their strengths and empower them to realize their academic and personal potential.
For more information and the register with AL, contact:
- Email askanadvisor@sheridancollege.ca

Peer Tutoring
Peer tutors offer one-on-one tutoring for courses other than those supported by the Learning Assistants in the Tutoring Centre or through Sheridan’s PAL program. Peer tutors are current Sheridan students that have been selected based on their grades and a faculty reference.
For more information: https://central.sheridancollege.ca/tutoring
Deferrals and No Shows
Students are only permitted to defer a semester one time. If you need to defer an additional semester, your program with Academic Upgrading will be closed, and you will have to reapply when ready and committed to participate.
A “no show” occurs when a student who registers for Academic Upgrading does not show up to their scheduled classes in the first week. At that time, students are removed from the program. A student is not permitted re-entry into Academic Upgrading if there are two semesters of “No Shows” on their file.
Withdrawal from the Academic Upgrading Program
If you are no longer able to attend classes and would like to withdraw from the Academic Upgrading program, follow the steps below:
- Inform your Program Officer about your intent to leave the program.
- Fill out an exit form, link will be sent via email.
You may be eligible to retake the course with us pending approval. Speak to your Program Officer.
Note: There is a last day to withdraw without academic penalty. If you withdraw after this date, the grade that you are left with will appear on your letter of standing. Please see Academic Calendar for the last day to drop without academic penalty for your term.
Completing the Program
When completing the program, the following tasks must be completed for grades to be released:
- Finished all required courses and receive a final grade for each
- Filled out an exit survey
After completing the Program
Upon completion of the Academic Upgrading program, you will be asked to fill out a 3-, 6-, and 12-months online survey that will be sent to your email. This survey allows the program to evaluate how useful/helpful the program was for you.
